MARIE BERNADETTE SIMONE KIRKHAM Peacefully, on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the Pinawa Hospital, Simone passed away at the age of 69 years. Simone remained dignified and courageous during her illness and her wonderful sense of humour was a source of strength for her family to the very end. Simone was predeceased by her parents, Yvonne and Armand Turcotte. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Ray; her children, Raymond (Rea), Yvonne (Ted), Paula (Ulrich), Janine (Tom) and Tim (Vanessa) 14 grandsons and one granddaughter. She is also survived by five sisters, Lucille (Lloyd), Madeline (Jack), Francoise, Claudette (Frank) and Helene (Ted), who travelled from Alberta to be at her side for her final days. Simone was an avid bridge player, was very active with the Pinawa Arts and Crafts Guild and walked daily with her friend Fay. Simone was a Pinawa Pioneer, having moved from Deep River, ON in 1963. She was born and raised in Edmonton, AB. Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church, Lac du Bonnet on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Mirek Szynal presiding. A private family interment will follow in the Pinawa Cemetery.
