CLARE FRANCIS SWANSON Peacefully on August 1, 1999, in the morning at Concordia Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, Dad passed away at age 54. Dad was predeceased by his father Frans Swanson, and his father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Mary Brewster. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Heather (Brewster), and his children, Trevor and Lorena. Also left to cherish his memory are his mother, Eleanor Swanson of Neepawa; his brother, Hector of Yorkton, SK; sister, Shirley (Herb) Schellenberg; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Bill) Derksen of Mississauga, ON; brother-in-law, John (Linda) Brewster; sister-in-law Irene (Richard) Schellenberg; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Diane) Brewster; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Neepawa on May 1, 1945 and was raised on the farm in Brookdale, where he also went to school. He later moved to Winnipeg to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba. During his working years Dad had many jobs in the agriculture industry where he derived much enjoyment, especially his last place of employment at Leos Sales and Service, where he made many friends over the years. Dad took great pride in his family and was always there when he was needed. He was always involved in his kids activities from hockey, soccer and camping. Dad also loved spending time with the family dog and will be greatly missed by him. The family would like to thank Dr. Harris and nurses Kathy, Carol and Marguerite on the Oncology Ward, and a special thanks to the nurses on the 3rd Floor at Concordia Hospital; also thank you to Marlene, the VON nurse, and Dr. Wozney and Dr. Pilat. We would also like to extend our appreciation to the family and friends who have been so supportive over the last year. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with Rev. Richard Condo officiating.
