Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTELLE COVAL With her family at her side, Estelle Coval passed away peacefully at the Tuxedo Villa on Sunday, August 1, 1999. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John; her parents, Andrew and Katherine Dershko; dear sisters, Winnie and Frances, and brothers Bill and Eugene. She leaves to mourn her loving daughter Virginia, son-in-law Warren, grandchildren, John, Lindsay and Graham; dear sisters, Helen MacKew (and husband Jim) of Alabama, Olive Nelson of Toronto; sisters-in-law, Nadia Dershko of Winnipeg and Mary Dershko of Victoria; nieces, Barbara, Lesley and Teresa; and nephews Gordon and Gregory. Estelle was born September 17, 1910 in Jersey City, NJ and moved to Winnipeg at an early age with her parents and siblings. After graduating from St. Johns High School she was employed in a bank until her marriage to John in 1937. She was a member of Ukrainian Youth and Womens Organizations and wrote a fashion column for a local Ukrainian newspaper. Estelle was a great support to her husband John in his business endeavours. She was a Director of Western Flyer Coach, the bus manufacturing company founded by John in the 1930s. She took an active interest in several organizations throughout the years including: the PEO, Chapters E and O, Winnipeg Womens Club, Canadian Club, I.O.D.E., Antique Arts and the Winnipeg Art Gallery. Estelle was also a long time, enthusiastic member of the Winnipeg Winter Club Bowling League. A gracious hostess, she enjoyed entertaining family, friends and her husbands business associates. Estelle was also involved with John in activities of the Shrine, Lions Club and Niakwa Country Club. They were members of St. Aidans Anglican Church for many years. Estelle and John had many winter holidays in La Jolla, California where she was a member of the Womens Club and the Antique Club. They travelled to Japan, the Far East, Britain and Europe and enjoyed many of these trips with Winnipeg friends. Estelle was a devoted wife and mother, always interested in her family. She spent many wonderful summers with her grandchildren at the family cottage at Matlock and delighted in watching them grow. She will be missed by her family and friends and leaves many happy memories behind. Rest in peace, dear Mom, you will live in our hearts forever. Our special thanks to Vera Pereira and the staff of Tuxedo Villa for their loving care and nurturing of Estelle in her last years. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Suite 400, 141 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0R3. There will be a funeral service in St. Aidans Anglican Church, 274 Campbell at Kingsway on Friday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Canon C. F. Greene officiating.
