JEAN DULOCK (nee KUZ) Jennie Dulock (nee Kuz) passed into the arms of angels on August 9, 2003. She was the first of five children born to Martha (nee Maskiw) and William Kuz on June 22, 1921 in the Municipality of Rossburn, MB. Though the name Jennie appears on her birth certificate, she was affectionately known as Johanna and Jean by her family and friends. Johanna, like so many others who grew up during the Depression, lived through difficult times. However, once the Great Depression passed and Johanna entered womanhood, she developed the impeccable taste and sense of style that she was known for. Today when one thinks of Johanna, one thinks of elegance: pearls and scented lace handkerchiefs, beaded sweater sets and delicate chiffon, tidiness and finesse. Johanna was also the cultured intellectual in the family, always articulate, well-read and never without an impassioned point of view. There are those in this world that do not share their feelings and those who are very expressive. Johanna was among the latter, and felt everything more intensely than most. Johanna married later in life, to Mike Dulock a kind and gentle man who predeceased her on September 24, 1984. They did not have children during their marriage, but she cherished her nieces and nephews as though they were her own. Kuz family Christmases were festive occasions with Johannas tradition of leading the caroling and gathering her nieces and nephews for the Mary Poppins "Chim-Chimney-Roo" dance. In addition to her husband, Jean was predeceased by her mother and father; her sister Margaret; brothers, Bill (Doreen) and Mike (Elsie). She is survived by her youngest brother Orest (Ernie) and wife Elaine; her Uncle Harry (Anne) Maskiw and Aunt Lily Rouble as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In her latter years, Jean also became good friends with her neighbours, Brian and Vicky Adams to whom the family is very grateful for the care and consideration they provided Johanna. In compliance with Johannas wishes, there will not be a funeral or burial service, but her brother Ernie would like to invite family and friends to an informal gathering on Sunday, August 17 to celebrate her life. The gathering will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at his daughters home, 9 Blanchard Ave., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johannas memory to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division).
