Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JAMES TAYLOR Peacefully on Saturday, September 11, 1999 at home surrounded by family, William (Bill) Taylor aged 53 passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Born to Grace and Thomas on August 23, 1946 in Winnipeg, he spent the majority of his childhood and adolescence in Whitecourt and Grande Prairie, AB. After marrying Betty in 1970, they moved to Stonewall to raise their family. Predeceased by his father Thomas, and his uncle Jack. He leaves to mourn his loving partner, wife and best friend Betty; two children Sandi and Steven; grandson Alexander; mother Grace (Lloyd) aunts Mary and Mabel and numerous other extended family and many friends. As a young child, Bill belonged to Sea Cadets and even when no longer active with it, the stories showed his love for it. Graduated from Grande Prairie Collegiate in 1966, he continued to educate himself. He was not one to move into the University stream quickly but eventually he returned to complete his CIM, CPIM, and P. Mgr. Bill held various jobs in young adulthood until he found a career with Boeing of Canada in 1972 and later with New Flyer where he was employed until his death. Bill was a very quite natured man but was much loved for his caring and compassionate way with people. He was always patient, taking the time with everyone to take advantage of a teaching moment encouraging them to reach their potential every step of the way. His kind and patient manner and his eagerness to be of help has touched the hearts of all who knew him. Over the past several years, Bill re-established a love for racing cars. Having built Nemesis in his early adult life to race, he returned to build Nemesis II after he had raised his family. Bill spent many hours working on his racecar and made many trips to Gimli to fulfil his dreams. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Mackenzies Funeral Chapel in Stonewall. The Rev. Mark Whitehead presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Childrens Wish Foundation. Mackenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
