STELLA SKAKUN (EWANISHIN) The family regrets to announce the passing of Stella, beloved wife of Eugene for nearly 50 years and mother, on February 9, 2001, in Brandon, Man. Born January 9, 1933, the youngest of 12 children of Phillip and Tatiana at Bruno, Sask. Stella was raised on the family farm near Mount Carmel, Sask. In 1951, she married her life partner, Eugene. In his work career with the CNR, they lived in Dalmeny, Sask., Prince Albert, Sask., Thunder Bay, Ont., and Brandon, Man. After dads retirement from the CNR and moms retirement as a Dietary Aide at McKellar Hospital in Thunder Bay, they enjoyed warmer winters in Mesa, AZ, Florida and finally Weslaco, TX. Mom was a terrific seamstress, loved growing flowers (mostly waves of petunias and then later roses), and enjoyed watching the activity of the birds from their gazebo in their park-like yard in Brandon. Stella is survived by her husband Eugene; children, Wesley (Heather) and Cheryl van der Raadt of Saskatoon, Sask., Cynthia (Glenn) Hildebrand of Winnipeg, Man., and grandchildren, Andrew and Jamie van der Raadt of Calgary, Alta., and Jonathon van der Raadt of Saskatoon, Sask. Prayers will be held on Monday, February 12 at 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 13 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, Sask., with Rev. Fr. Morris Dzurman, C.SS.R officiating. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery, Saskatoon, Sask. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan. Funeral arrangements have entrusted to Greg Lalach of Park Funeral Chapel, (306) 244-2103, (Saskatoon, Sask).
