STEPHANIE (STELLA) RUSSIN Peacefully on February 10, 2001 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Stella Russin, aged 91 years, formerly of Melnice, Man., passed on to be with Lord. Stella was born in Krowenka, Ukraine and emigrated to Canada in 1927. She married Peter Russin in 1932 and they settled on the family homestead at Melnice where she worked very hard and endured many hardships. Stella was always very hospitable and generous, loved flowers and her garden, and was an active and founding member of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg Beach. Stella was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1969 and in the Ukraine by her parents, John and Mary Pasicka; sister Julie and brother Stan and a sister Anne Myketa of Winnipeg Beach. She will be sadly missed by her children, Fred (Geraldine) of Winnipeg, Edna Wishnowski (Emil) of Lockport, Emil (Sophie) of Australia and Steve (Stephanie) of Petersfield; grandchildren, Pamela (Jim), Shelly (Randy), Michael, Ted, Amelia, Alexander, Matthew; great-grandchildren, Rebeca, Peter, Toby and Brent and a brother Voladmir in the Ukraine. Prayers will be said on Monday (tonight) at 7:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral liturgy will be held on Tuesday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m., in the St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg Beach with Deacon Harry Chuckry officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Michael, Ted and Lawrence Russin, Jim Tomko, George Myketa and Randy Goertzen. We wish to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Red River Place, Dr. Lindenschmidt, and the nursing staff at the Selkirk General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter and Paul Church or a charity of your choice. VICHNAYA PAMYAT Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
