Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS CLIFFORD AMY (TOM) February 17, 1918 - February 12, 2001 Thomas Clifford Amy passed away suddenly February 12, 2001 at the St. Boniface Hospital, age 82. He is survivied by his wife Eleanor (nee Fardoe) his daughter Eleanor Penner of Steinbach; daughter-in-law Helen Amy; grandchildren Douglas (Kristine), David (Tracy), Judy, Heather, Derrick (Leanne), Nicole and great grandson Greg. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Gwen Amy, Nell Dodd and Anne Peabody (Gerry), numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother Alfred and Elsie Amy; his son Clifford and son-in-law Alfred Penner. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law Frank Fardoe (Ann), his brother Fred, his brothers-in-law Bob Dodd, Bill Fardoe and nephew George Amy. Born in Argyle, Manitoba on the family farm Tom attended school at Brant Argyle. He married Eleanor Fardoe of the Ridgeway District in 1941. In 1942 he joined the Armed Services and was stationed in Newfoundland and Bermuda. Upon his return he and his wife Eleanor farmed in the Argyle district where they lived until their move to Stonewall in 1998. Through his love of gardening he acquired a position with the Department of National Defense as the Base Gardener for several years before retirement. Tom was a life long member of the Brant Argyle Canadian Legion, 4-H Leader of the Argyle Beef and Balmoral Swine Clubs. He was a five pin bowler, enjoyed shuffleboard at Argyle and lawn bowling in Stonewall and Winnipeg. In his senior years he was a member of the Stonewall Seniors Club and Stonewall Legion Seniors Club. He enjoyed meeting people whether it was camping, fishing or in the trailer park in Texas. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends for his caring nature. Friends may call from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, February 15 at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Reverend John Holmen will officiate with Legion Rights at the Service. Pallbearers will be Douglas and David Penner, Derrick Amy, Judy and Heather Penner and Nicole Amy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harvey Tyerman, Ken Creaser, Henry Main, Basil Lewin, and Mel Sampson. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, or to a charity of ones choice.
