THELMA IRIS PHILLIPS (nee MALTHOUSE) 1912 - 2001 Peacefully, at St. Norbert Nursing Home, Sunday, February 11, 2001, Thelma Iris Phillips passed away, mother of Iris Moorhouse, Gina Anderson (husband Jon), and Jack Phillips (wife Jennifer). Thelma was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Phillips; brothers, Victor Malthouse, and Horace Malthouse; sister Nora Hibbert; and son-in-law George Moorhouse. Thelma was left a widow at an early age and devoted her life to her children. They in turn were devoted to her. She will be lovingly remembered as Grandma, Granny, and Nana to her grandchildren, Lance Moorhouse (Simone), Tara Lancaster and husband Rob, Miles Moorhouse and wife Lisa, Kim Krasnowski and husband Rob, David Anderson and Melanie and Michael Phillips; and her ten great-grandchildren, Corey, Justin, and Sean Lancaster, Amanda and Matthew Moorhouse, Megan, Lynae, and Mason Moorhouse, and Ryan and Kaitlyn Krasnowski. She has always been a part of their lives and her many handcrafted gifts will be treasured by them. She is survived by her sisters, Doris Wallace, Pat Gross and husband John, and sister-in-law Jean Malthouse. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 15 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and a gathering for family and friends will be held in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Although Alzheimers robbed her of her memory in later years, her long battle with Schizophrenia robbed her of many of lifes simplest pleasures. It is for this reason that the family request, in lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made to Schizophrenia Society of Manitoba, 3 - 1000 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0N3. Special thanks to the staff of St. Norbert Nursing Home for their care and support. "All your cares are gone and youll feel no pain The love we all shared, will forever remain."
