Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS CHRISTINE MOFFATT (nee MURRAY) Peacefully, on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Phyllis Christine Moffatt, beloved wife of Claire Moffatt, passed away at the age of 76 years. Phyllis was born on July 16, 1924, daughter of William and Margaret Murray at Hamiota, MB, where she was raised on the family farm with her brother and sister. After completing her education in Hamiota she went on to work with the Royal Bank of Canada in Hamiota. For six years she worked in several different communities with the bank. Phyllis was married to Claire Albert Moffatt on January 19, 1946 in Brandon, MB. Soon after they lived in Carberry and Rignold Siding, where they raised their family. In 1978, they moved to Portage la Prairie. Phyllis went back to work in 1976 for Portage Plains United Way for three years. She was a member of the U.C.W. Ladies Auxiliary and a founding member of the McKenzie United Church Thrift Shop. She enjoyed quilting and crewel stitching. Much of her time and love was spent with her 12 grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her for her kindness, generosity of spirit and selflessness. Predeceased by her parents; and sister Geneva Thompson she leaves to mourn her passing her husband Claire; four sons, Ron (Alice) of Saskatoon, their family, Jill (Paul) and Jennifer of Toronto; Brian (Judy), their family, Courtney and Kendra of Hamilton; Gary (Barb), their family, Brice, Jason, Nicolette of Portage; Kevin (Lori), their family, Terry and Ian of Winnipeg; daughter Janice (Glenn) Fidelak, their family, Steven, Michael, and David of Portage. Also surviving is a brother Arnold and Betty Murray of Hamiota; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lions Prairie Manor for their kind and compassionate care. Funeral service was held at McKenzie United Church on Friday, February 16 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Leith Saunders officiating. Soloist Bev Meseyton sang "In the Garden". The congregational hymns were "Unto The Hills" and "The King Of Love My Shepherd Is" with Audrey MacFarlane presiding at the organ for the service. The family considered all of Phyllis friends attending the service as the Honorary Pallbearers. Piper Roy Middleton played "Amazing Grace" at the graveside. Interment followed at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation of Canada, 204 - 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5. The Omega Funeral Home, Portage La Prairie was in care of the arrangements. Friends may leave a message and sign the register book at our website www.legacy.com "Where life stories live on" Endings Frail as porcelain she sits, unmoving except for bone-thin hands mending with care forgotten clothes which are not there - threading unseen needles, moistening fingertips, knotting the thread carefully There - one more finished - smoothing the wrinkles away, softly laying it by, slipping back to the early May of her life as easily as breathing.
