LEONARD JOHN AMOS Peacefully, on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at the Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson, Manitoba, Leonard John Amos, of the Fisher River Cree Nation passed away at the age of 63 years. Leonard leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 42 years, Alice; sons, Leonard (Delores) of Little Sask., Pete Traverse of Peguis, Charles of Winnipeg, Patrick (Sharon) of Poplar River, Kenny of Jackhead, and Harold of Winnipeg; daughters, Susan (Jim) Anderson of Little Sask., and Violet (Edwin) Amos of Jackhead; sister Susan Amos of Winnipeg; sister-in-law, Harriet Amos of Fisher River; brothers-in-law, John George (Janet) Traverse of Jackhead, and Joe Mason of B.C.; 29 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Leonard was predeceased by his parents, Eliza Bouchey (1990) and John Amos; brothers, Thomas and Donald (1997) his sisters, Mary and Harriet Harasemiw (1975) grandsons, Mervin and Eric Amos; aunt, Mary Morriseau, and daughter Linda Eileen. Leonard was born on the Bloodvein Reserve. He and Alice moved to Fisher River, then to Jackhead, MB. Leonard spent most of his adult life as a fisherman, and shared many special times fishing with his sons. He enjoyed working on carpentry projects with his grandson Greg, hunting, and other outdoor activities. Leonard was a Christian man, who loved serving the Lord, attending church, and sharing his testimony. He will be sadly missed by his relatives, friends, and all who knew him, especially Greg and Josie Amos, who were his two special grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special appreciation and thank you to Farrell Favell, Allan Saunders, the Fisher River Health Centre nursing staff, the Fisher River Healing Centre staff, to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Percy E. Moore Hospital, the Fisher River Cree Nation Chief and Council, the Little Saskatchewan Chief and Council and the Anderson Family Funeral Home for all their care and compassion. Wake services will be held on Saturday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19 at 2:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Fisher River House of Prayer, Fisher River, MB.
