Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY (QUEENIE) HICKS (nee SOLOMON) Queenie passed away quietly, on Friday, January 5, 2001 in Naples, Florida while visiting Bob and Linda. She was where she wanted to be. Queenie is survived by her son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Linda, her daughter, Marilyn Mack of Portland, Oregon, six grandchildren, Rob (Julie), Tim (Jolie), Troy (Sandy), Carrie-Lynn, Alyson, and Tamara, seven great-grandchildren, Travis, Brandon, Parker, Kendall, Justin, Kayley, and Ashton. "Darby" will miss her too. Queenie was predeceased by her two brothers, Harry (Dash) Solomon and Norman Goldberg. Queenie was born in 1915 and came to Canada in 1920. She resided in Winnipeg until 1958 when she moved to California, staying until 1976; then returning to Winnipeg where she remained until her death. Queenie loved life and lived everyday. She greatly loved her grandchildren; then this love expanded even more when her great-grandchildren came along. Queenie always found good in everyone. A special service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, February 22, at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with Rabbi Michael Levinson of Temple Shalom as officiate. Special thanks to Queenies special friends, Anne and Alex Love. Although a person of modest means, there wasnt a charity she didnt give to. The list was long but her favourites were the Sunshine Fund, 194A Sherbrook St., R3C 2B6 (Wpg Free Press - kids to camp), and the MB Heart & Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., R3B 2H8. The family would deeply appreciate donations made in Queenies memory. A heart of gold stopped beating Working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Leaves and flowers may wither, The golden sun may set But the hearts that loved you dearly Are the ones that wont forget Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
