THOMAS EDWARD (Ted) BURKE-GAFFNEY Thomas Edward (Ted), 85, loving and beloved husband of Helen (nee Gans) died peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on February 8, 2001. Besides Helen, Ted is survived by sons and daughters, Mary (Brian Rusk), John (Valerie), Maureen (Maurice Copiak), Tom (Amanda), Theresa, Kathleen and Christopher, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother John (Isobel), Nanaimo, sister, Mary, RSCJ, Montreal, P.Q., sister-in-law Lois, Calgary, and much loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and by brothers Rev. Desmond, S.J. and Frank, Calgary. Born in Winnipeg, Ted made his career as a geologist, serving the Manitoba government and, later, as manager for Sherritt-Gordon Mines in Lynn Lake and Sherridon, MB. The family moved from the north to Winnipeg in 1958, so their children could advance their educations. Ted and Helen retired to Victoria, B.C. in 1986, where they became very involved in church and community services. Service has taken place in Victoria. Flowers are gratefully declined.
