Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN LILLIAN ELIZABETH WOOD (nee WALLIS) Evelyn Lillian Elizabeth Wood (nee Wallis), passed away on Friday, February 16, 2001. Evelyn was born in Vancouver, BC in July 1911, where she resided until her husband joined the RCAF in 1942. She spent the War years in Winnipeg where she worked as a volunteer nurses aid for the Canadian Red Cross Society, later going overseas to assist in the transportation of the War Brides and their dependents and coming to Canada. Moving to Brandon in 1947, she worked beside her husband for ten years, then became the Field Representative in Manitoba for the Arthritis Society, until her retirement in 1977. Twenty of Evelyns retirement years were spent in Rivers, MB, a community she enjoyed and where she served on the Library and Hospital Boards. She was a Life Member of the Liberal Party. In 1964 she was appointed to the National Library Advisory Council for a four year term. Much of Evelyns retirement years were spent travelling extensively in many countries of the world. She moved to Brandon in 1998. She was predeceased by her husband Mick in 1983, and her only brother Gilbert in 1998. Evelyns great love for dogs was well-known to her friends, and if they so desire gifts may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, MB, R7A 6Z2. Cremation has taken place, and at Evelyns request, no service will be held. Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan, 727-0694.
