Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN CURRY (nee HUGHES) Suddenly on Friday, February 16 at St. Boniface Hospital, Jean Curry passed away at the age of 75. She is survived by her devoted husband Walter and their six children and spouses, Bernadette, Patrick (Donna), John (Carol), Michael (Laurel), Monica and Christopher (Lillian) 14 grandchildren, David (Jackie), Lisa, Paul, Jonathan, Bryan, Greg, Ryan, Michael, Matthew, Sarah, Janelle, Delaney, Nicholas and William; one great-grandchild little Jerni. Jean is also survived by her sister Bernedette (Joe) and brother Arthur (Bea) and predeceased by her sisters, Helen, Mary and Gladys and brother Frank. Jean was born in Charlottown, P.E.I. June 19, 1925. Married on August 19, 1947 and was the beloved wife of Walter for 54 years. Graduated from Charlottown Hospital Nursing School in 1946. Worked part-time while raising her family and in the early 70s returned to nursing full-time at the Health Sciences Centre. Jean retired from nursing in 1990 as the Director of Nursing (Nights) at the Health Sciences Centre. Jean loved a good laugh and will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour and caring, generous nature. Jean also loved working at her arts and crafts projects, much of which she generously donated to her church St. Alphonsus. At Jeans request cremation has taken place. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m., at St. Alphonsus Church, Munroe Avenue at Brazier Street, East Kildonan. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m., also at St. Alphonsus Church. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Ward 4 and to Brother Greg Mulligan, O.F.M. Cap. for spiritual support.
