Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRACE WINNIFRED JANE WILCOX (nee WEST) It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Grace Wilcox at the age of 85. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Minnedosa, MB on February 16, 2001. She was our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Oliver in 1997; her sisters, Ivy in 2000, Charlotte in 1962; her brother Henry in 1926; her nephew Charlie in 1997; and her parents, Charles and Olive West. She leaves to mourn her daughter Dianne and son-in-law Fred Miller; her grandson Grant (Kristi) precious great-grandson Owen; granddaughter Jennifer (Daxx). She also leaves to mourn nephews, Bert Blackman (Sherrill), Dennis West; nieces, Shirley Gering (Fred), Doreen Blackman, Bev Blackman; and many cousins. Grace was born April 18, 1915 at Birds Hill. She grew up in Lily Bay and Winnipeg. She married Oliver June 16, 1945 in Winnipeg. They farmed in the municipality of Odanah, moving to Minnedosa November, 1983. Grace was a very loving and caring person to family, friends and others who needed support. She was a parishioner of St. Marks Anglican Church. She served as a member of the ACW, the Edna WA, and the Rural Hospital Aide. She diligently attended Friday activities at the Minnedosa Personal Care Home. She enjoyed dancing, visiting and encouraging others to participate. Through her life she was known as Grandma Grace to many children for whom she gave care. While she looked forward to visits and calls from family and friends, it was being with her great-grandson Owen that blessed the last 17 months of her life. It warmed her heart to hear a little voice come to her saying GG (Great Grandma). Grace lived with independence and determination right up to the time of her passing. She received great comfort and support from her many friends and neighbours in Minnedosa. The family would like to especially thank Ivan and Bertha Shearer, Jean and Duane LaCoste, and longtime friends Jean and Erling Wark and Irene Robinson. We also want to thank Larry and Marlene Pollon for their thoughtful support at this difficult time. A funeral service will take place at St. Marks Anglican Church, 108 - 2nd Ave. S., Minnedosa, on Friday, February 23 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Pete Falk officiating. Interment following at the Minnedosa Cemetery. Pallbearers are Grant Miller, Daxx Pelletier, Ryan Miller, Fred Gering, Larry Pollon, and Leonard Wark. All those who knew and loved Grace are honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, for the love of children, donations may be made to the Westman Dreams for Kids, 117 - 10th St., Brandon, MB R7A 4B7.
