WILBERT (BERT) TURNER On Sunday, February 18, 2001, Bert Turner, aged 81 years of Beausejour, Man. passed away at the Beausejour Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 50 years, Irene; daughter Laurie and Ralph McKeown and their children, Coreen, Michael and Craig of Calgary; sons Jim and Tom Turner, Maggie Main and granddaughter Rochelle Bisko. Bert is also survived by his sister Margaret MacDonald and brothers Charlie (Doris) and Jim; brothers-in-law Wayne (Marlene) Riddall, Swaney Englot and sisters-in-law Alma Laughlin and Muriel Turner; also numerous nieces, nephews and his faithful dog, Spooner. Bert was born on the family farm in 1919 in Sebright, where he spent most of his life. He was the second youngest of 13 children. Bert was very proud of his family and farm heritage. In his younger years, he was an active participant in hockey and curling and was one of the founding members of the Tyndall Curling Club. Dad loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. In 1940, Bert joined the Armed Forces, serving with the Irish Fusiliers until the end of the war. After the war, he returned to farming life and married Irene in 1950. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Pauls United Church, Beausejour, Man. with Rev. Kelly Thomson officiating. Honourary Pallbearers will be John Gmitroski, Wally Frankowski and Joe Keilback. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, donations in Berts memory may be made to St. Pauls United Church, Beausejour, Man. ROE OCO.
