Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN DUTKA June 6, 1923 - February 17, 2001 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Dutka at the Snow Lake Medical Centre. He will be sadly missed by: His children, William (Cathy) of Kingsbury, Que.; Kirk (Evelyn) of Pine Falls, Man.; Coralie (Shane) of Adelaide, Australia; Brian of Saskatoon, Sask. and their mother Denise of Brandon, Man. His grandchildren: Stephanie, Jessica, Bridgette and Michael. His friend Norma Sanberg; his sisters Mary Allen, Nettie Rahkonen and his many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Michael & Anna; his brothers Fred, Bill, Harry and George; his sisters Helen Wolashun and Rose Turnley. John was born & raised in River, Manitoba, When the Second World War broke out, John volunteered and was sent overseas, where he served till the end of the war. When he returned to Canada, his strong sense of adventure drew John to the north. He found employment with Midwest Drilling and spent 14 years working in various provinces and the territories. He settled in Flin Flon where he met his wife and started his family. He then worked for H.B.M.& S.in Snow Lake until his retirement in 1988. John was a leader in Snow Lake and dedicated many years to the betterment of the community. He was involved in Sea Cadets, the School Board, Town Council, Ski Club, Seniors Centre and the Snow Lake Legion; starting from the erection of the Legion building and serving in many capacities, holding numerous positions until his death. His retirement years were also spent wood working, fishing, writing and gardening. John was always ready to help friends and family. Funeral service will be held at the Snow Lake Elks Hall at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21. Luncheon to follow at the Legion. Honourary pallbearers will be comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #241.
