Date of Passing: Jan 19, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHRISA KORELL The children of Thrisa Korell, with deep sorrow, announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Thrisa was born on September 21, 1908, in Yugoslavia and passed away peacefully on February 19, 2001, at the Bethania Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the past 13 years. Mom came to Canada in 1928, looking for a better place to raise her family. She worked very hard throughout the years for market gardeners, and in her own home bringing up her children. She lived in Winnipeg, Clandeboye, Selkirk and Transcona on Whittier Avenue East. She loved tending to her garden and flowers outside. Mom was a very caring person and loved to share her life with family, friends and neighbours. Mom was predeceased by her mother and father Margaret and Christian Demand, husband Ludwig Korell in 1981, brother and sister-in-law Samuel and Elizabeth Demand (Vienna) and son-in-law Bill Car in 1995. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Theresa of Calgary, Walter of Calgary, John (Cordelia), Lou (Muriel) and her many grandchildren and family in Vienna. Mom became blind at the age of 77, and shortly after she moved to Bethania Nursing Home, where she received loving and compassionate care over the years. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, February 22 at 1:30 p.m., with viewing held one half hour prior at the Bethania Nursing Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, Pastor Gerhard Friesen officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be held, and interment will then follow at the Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Korell, Tyler Fedorowich, Herman Roemich, Mervin Penuita, Ray Reichert and Richard Gutwein. We, the family, would especially like to thank the nurses and aids on 4-C, and also the pastoral guidance for our mother. The family would also like to thank Auntie Katie and Uncle Chris Roemich for always remembering her over her many years, and also Margaret Gutwein for being there for her when she needed her the most. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memoriam offerings may be made to the Bethania Nursing Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R2K 3S7. "Rest in peace, dear mother Your wish has finally been granted." Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
