RICHARD ROSS HOLDER August 9, 1914 - February 19, 2001 Ross passed away peacefully on February 19, 2001, at the East Gate Personal Care Home in Beausejour. Ross was born to Dick and Peggy Holder on August 9, 1914, at Scarth, Man. His wife Madge (Smith) predeceased him. He leaves to mourn his son Richard and daughter-in-law Bonnie; grandsons, Ross Holder Jr and Calvin Holder; sisters-in-law, Winnifred Havelock, Gwen Jackson and Jessie Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and Bonnies children. Rosss younger years were spent at Algar (Oak Lake), Ninette and Baldur. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as an Aero-engine mechanical instructor at St. Thomas, Ont. He and Madge Smith were married at Baldur on February 21, 1942. After the war he settled in Baldur and worked as a self-employed carpenter, electrician and plumber until 1968 when he moved to Winnipeg to teach Construction Electricity at Red River Community College. After Madges passing he moved to Beausejour. Ross was active in Scouts, achieving the honour of Kings Scout. He was active in sports, mainly baseball, curling and trapshooting. He had a great love for the outdoors and spent many hours hunting, fishing, banding ducks and taking photographs of nature. In his retirement he spent many hours in his woodworking shop producing many items that will keep his memory alive. At Rosss request cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Baldur later in the year. The family extends its thanks to Dr. G. Campbell, the staff at Stony Plains Terrace, the Beausejour Hospital and the East Gate Personal Care Home for their help and care during the past year.
