Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY JASON DANKESREITER On Saturday, February 17, 2001, at the Bethany Care Centre, Cochrane, AB, Harry Dankesreiter, a resident of the Bethany Care Centre, and formerly of MacGregor, MB, widower of the late Helen Dankesreiter, passed away at the age of 88 years. Funeral service will be held at the MacGregor United Church, MacGregor, on Friday, February 23 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Quinton Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at the MacGregor Cemetery. Harry was born on October 24, 1912, son of Frank and Sophia Dankesreiter at Edwin, where he was raised and received his education. In 1932 Frank, Sophia, Lorne and Harry moved to Beaver, where they farmed. After his parents passed on, Harry continued to farm at Beaver. On June 26, 1940, Harry married Helen Ramsay. They moved to MacGregor in 1958 and retired from farming in 1973. As a young man Harry played baseball and curled and when he retired he enjoyed the game of golf. Harry was always involved with the land and to better farming practices. He was involved with the Portage Co-op and the United Grain Growers Association. He was also a charter member of the MacGregor Lions Club from 1963 to 1995. In 1978 Harry and his wife Helen received the Citizen of the Year Award. Predeceased by his parents, his wife Helen and his grandson Michael, he leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Donna of Toronto, Carole and her husband Stan Dodds of Calgary; granddaughter Heather; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the MacGregor United Church, MacGregor, MB R0H 0R0.
