MARY TERESA PAYNE (nee Jakilaszek) Suddenly and peacefully at her home, on February 20, 2001, Mary passed away at the age of 85 years. Mary was born in Winnipeg on June 3, 1915, the eldest of four children. Predeceased by her husband Neil in 1971, whom she has gone to join, and her sister Nellie, she leaves to mourn her sons Neil (Gloria) and Brian (Beverlee), eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren as well as brothers Tom and Philip and sister Alice. Mom was a woman of the 90s, independent and living life to the fullest. Her love for the family was unmatched and included family dinners which she insisted on preparing. Mary lived life to the fullest with regular perogy making at St. Alphonsus, gambling junkets to the U.S. with her good friend Trissie Parker, when they werent shopping in Palm Springs. Mom also took great pride in her yard and flowers, and was active with her friends at the Concordia Hospital Auxiliary. Mary worked many memorable years at Eatons Mail Order, and took great pride in being a Charter Member and Past President of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Womans League. She never missed meeting with her Lord every Sunday morning. Prayers will be held on Thursday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, Brazier and Munroe. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
