EARL EDWARD (LARRY) ENGLISH It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Earl Edward (Larry) English, peacefully on February 22, 2001 at Riverview Health Centre. Earl will be lovingly remembered by wife Shirley of 45 years; daughter Laura and son Tim (Cindy) of Winnipeg. Earl also leaves behind a brother and sisters, Alice English of Toronto, Ralph (Hilda) of Wood Bourne, NY, Verna (Ben) of Jamestown, ND, as well as grandchildren, Tony, Denise, Jason, Chris and numerous nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by his father John Henry and mother Erma; brother Jack in 1983 and sister Erma in 1948 and son Joel in 1983. Earl was born in Rainy River, ON on June 2, 1929 and came to Winnipeg with his family a few years after, where he attended school in Transcona. Earl met Shirley when working for CN Rail as a brakeman in 1950 and they were married in 1955. Earl then went to work for 31 years at the City of Winnipeg Parks Dept. and remained there until his retirement in 1991. Earl had a great love for country music and could be found playing his guitar and singing when he was not out fishing or duck hunting. In his years in Winnipeg, Earl made a great many friends and will be missed by all he has touched throughout the years. Our family has lost a loving and devoted husband and father and will be sadly missed. Prayers will be held on Monday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 27, at 10:00 a.m. also at the Chapel with Rev. Fr. Paul Hancko officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. The family wish to express sincere thanks to the entire staff of 3 East at Riverview Health Centre and the staff on N3E in Concordia Hospital for their kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Earls memory to the Canadian Cancer Foundation.
