WILLIAM HENRY PALMER Peacefully on February 22, 2001 at the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital Stonewall, William Palmer, age 93 years of Stonewall and formerly of Grosse Isle. Bill is survived by special friend and companion Mae Butterill; two sons, Gerry and his wife Dorothy, Bryan and his wife Bernice. Also missing him are grandchildren, Sherrie Lynn and Irvine Ferris, Kendall and Rosemary Palmer, Leanne and Blair Good, Grant Palmer, Michael and Sacha Palmer, and Lori Palmer. Very special to him were his great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jamie, and Derek Palmer, Hollie, Sara, and Ethan Good, Quinn Ferris, Brittany and Evan Palmer, and Alycia Palmer. Predeceased by his wife Winnie in 1977, and great-grandson Matthew in 1990. Bill was born January 30, 1908 in the Eriksdale district to Harry and Sarah Palmer. Bill was the only son in a family with seven sisters. At an early age he moved to Winnipeg and spent his early life there, moving to Grosse Isle in the early 30s. Up until taking over the family farm in 1946, he worked in Winnipeg while also farming with his father. He remained on the family farm until retiring to Stonewall in 1986, and moved to Rosewood Lodge, November 1, 2000 due to ill health. He was a member of St. Michaels Anglican Church, Grosse Isle and served as the Ministers Warden for many years. He was a gentle man and will be missed by his family and friends. His family was very special to him. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 26 at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel Stonewall. Rev. Colin Chapman will officiate with interment to follow in the Stonewall Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kendall, Michael, and Grant Palmer, Irvine Ferris, Blair Good, and Bill Ritchie. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Rosewood Lodge or the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital Stonewall. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
