PHYLLIS CAROLINE HANBURY (HEWITT) (nee MITCHELL) Phyllis Caroline Hanbury (Hewitt) (nee Mitchell) died in the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC, February 17, 2001. Born April 5, 1912, in Winnipeg, MB. A graduate of the University of Manitoba BA 1933 and also her Department of Education Collegiate & Principals Certificates. Married Robert Edwin Hewitt, LLB. KC. of McCauley, MB in 1937. They resided in Manitoba and Ontario until retiring to Victoria in 1967. Predeceased by her first love Edwin in 1982, her second husband Harry in 1998; also her brothers, William Vaughan and Eric Lawson Mitchell, both with the Winnipeg Grenadiers in the Defence of Hong Kong, Christmas 1941; and her dear brother Edmund Rawdon (Rawd) Mitchell in 1988. Survived by her niece Diane Dempsey (nee Mitchell) and husband Jack of Victoria and their children; also a nephew Barry Mitchell (Connie) and family of Winnipeg.
