MICHAEL (MIKE) DUDYCH Peacefully, on Wednesday, February 21, 2001, Mike Dudych, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at his residence. Born April 17, 1936 in Hazelridge, MB. Mike will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sophie; as well as his children, Julian (Darlene), Barb (Roger), and Wayne (Donna). He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Lindsay, Shayne, Alanna and Alexa. Also surviving are brother and sisters, Anne (Fred) Daciw, Peter (Helen), Mary (Mike) Kiernicki, Walter (Sylvia), Stan (Velva), Steffie (Mike) Babiak, Andy (Jeanette) and Garry (Leona) sister-in-law Susan Dudych; plus many other relatives and friends. Mike was predeceased by mother Nettie, father John and brother Bill. In his early years, Mike was involved with trucking along with his brothers, Peter, Bill and Stan. They worked together hauling pulpwood and gravel. He then met and married his wife Sophie in Hadashville, MB. Together, they bought a farm in Dugald and have resided there ever since. He worked at Tallmans pit for a short while and then went to work at CN Rail, Transcona Shops from 1970 till his retirement in 1994. Mikes enjoyment in life was his farm and cattle. He mostly enjoyed watching the calves being born in the spring and harvesting crops in the fall. He especially enjoyed walking through the cattle pasture with his grandson Shayne. Mike was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. When not found working in his yard, he could be found helping his neighbours. He liked socializing and chatting over a good game of crib while listening to the Saturday Night Polka Hour. Prayers will be held on Sunday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, February 26 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day St., with Rev. Fr. Ernie Hafichuk officiating. Interment will follow in Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Mardynalka, Ken Dudych, Lawrence Kiernicki, Richard Dudych, Doug Shaver and Garry Brown. Honorary pallbearers are everyone in thought. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mikes memory to a charity of ones choice.
