MARGARET ROBERTS
Date of Passing: Feb 18, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ROBERTS In the company of her loving family, Margaret Roberts peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2000 at Grace Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Falconer in 1944 and by her husband Gordon Roberts in 1955. She went on to raise her family with hard work and unconditional love. She was first employed as a dental assistant with Dr. Scott Norquay, and then joined her dear press friends at the Winnipeg Tribune as a newspaper librarian. She was well-recognized by her colleagues for her expertise and diligence in that field, and for her encouragement and good counsel to many a young reporter. She leaves behind her three children, Linda Kautz (Bob), Randy Roberts (Patt), and Bryn Roberts (Keely). Although Margaret was known variously as Peg, Peggy, and Peggo, there is no doubt that her favourite name of all was Grandma Peggy. She adored her grandchildren, Tristan, Meagan, Bryn, Malcolm, Joel, as well as her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Cruise. They all shared their own very special relationship with her. Peggys friends from her newspaper days will remember fabulous parties at her house in Woodhaven. Peggy loved jazz music, read everything she could get her hands on, and in earlier days just loved to dance. Most especially she loved her family and her friends, and cherished all the good times, vigorous discussions, and great laughs that we all shared over many years. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and an informal gathering will be held in the Tache Room at the Norwood Hotel on Saturday, March 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friends are encouraged to share a drink and some memories. The family thanks the staff at Grace Hospital I.C.U. for their competence and professionalism, and for their wonderful compassion to Peggy and her family throughout her stay. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to send a donation in her memory to the Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg R3J 3M7.
