MICHAEL (MIKE) ANTON YAREMKEWICH It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Michael (Mike) Anton Yaremkewich, age 88, at Grace Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2001. He will be sadly missed by his 2 daughters, Jean (Dan) Simpson and Doris; granddaughter, Shauna Simpson; 2 sisters, Jean (Jack) Hunter, Victoria (Ed) Baker; brother Walter (Doreen) of B.C.; brothers-in-law Ben Wishnowski and Stanley (Anne) Buchko; sisters-in-law Mary Chernichan, Kay (Bryan) McEachern, Al Buchko, Helen Labchuk; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Sofia; his wife Anne in 1992, brother Joe in 1995 and sister Stefie Wishnowski in 2000. Dad was born November 8, 1912. He was raised in Fisher Branch, where he met and married Anne Buchko in 1938. They spent the early years of their marriage raising their family, while farming and later running their grocery store. In the late fifties they moved to Winnipeg where Dad worked in the hotel industry until his retirement at age 65. His family was very important to him and could always count on his help when they needed it. He was a hard worker all of his life, always liking to keep busy. Dad enjoyed gardening and doing all his own yard work, right until his illness. Dad lived his life with a quiet dignity which earned the respect of everyone who met him. But above all, we will always remember his patience, pleasant disposition and quickness to joke and laugh. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the attending medical staff of 3 North at Grace Hospital. We would especially like to thank the nursing staff for their kindness and compassionate care. Pallbearers will be Dennis Wishnowksi, Leon Wishnowski, Bill Johnston, Doug Hunter, Ron Mamchuk and Brad McEachern. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, February 27, at 7:00PM at the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Avenue. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, at 10:00AM also at the Holy Family Church with Rev. Fr. Andrew Wach officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Mb. R3B 2H8.
