IRENE WILETTA DUFF Peacefully on February 23, 2001 at Seven Oaks Hospital, after a long, painful battle with osteoporosis and emphysema, in the arms of her daughter Isabel and surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born in Winnipeg, August 7, 1909. She was 91 years old. She was predeceased by her husband John and a son Jack. Irene worked as a "little French seamstress" as a young girl. She sewed fine garments by hand, embroidery, smocking and applying intricate beads and sequins. She worked at Piccardis Catering, Hudson Bays Georgian Room and lastly at Eatons in the Fancy Foods department. Irene loved her summers at the lake (Ingolf) and travelling with Isabel and Herb. She loved music and played her last piece on the piano on Christmas Eve at the hospital. Her great-granddaughters Kim and Stephanie sang for her and others twice during her hospital stay. She was so proud of their musical talents. CJOB and Peter Warren were her constant companions. She was an active member of the Gable Arms Social Club. Her family, beloved daughter Isabel and husband Herb will sadly miss her. Son James Duff, #3 son Pete Christensen, granddaughter Heather Rodger (My Special Angel), husband Cam, grandson Dean Bull, wife Darlene. Great-grandsons Christian Rodger (Rachelle) and Ryan Roger and great-granddaughters Kim and Stephanie Bull. Special thanks to Dr. Dalling for his compassionate care, and the nurses who recognized what a special lady Irene was. Thank you to the many homecare workers that helped Irene remain independent. Cremation has taken place according to Irenes wishes.
