GEORGE LESLIE DELGATY George Leslie Delgaty passed away on February 22, 2001 at the age of 81 at the Deloraine Memorial Hospital in Deloraine, Man. He was predeceased by his brother Colin and sister Gleetis Talbot and survived by his brothers, Ralph, Harvey, Herbert and Robert as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Les was born and raised on a farm near Gilbert Plains, Man. The fourth of seven children born to Earl and Ettie (Young) Delgaty. During the Second World War he served overseas with the Canadian Army and saw action in France and Holland. In 1946, not long after his discharge from the army, Les lost his left hand in an accident while sawing logs. In 1947 he began working as a hired man on the farm of Edmund and Mary McGregor near Waskada, Man. In the mid 1950s he bought his own farm near Waskada and continued to farm there for about 35 years. In 1990 he retired and moved into the town of Waskada. Les was a quiet man who enjoyed curling, going for long walks, watching baseball and meeting with friends at the Waskada drop in centre. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on February 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the Waskada United Church in Waskada. Interment will follow in the Waskada cemetery.
