NORMA CATHERINE MURPHY (nee HOGAN) Peacefully, on February 27, 2001, Norma Murphy died at St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by her loving husband, Larry, in 1976, she will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren, Brian and Denise Murphy, Christopher, Erin and Timothy (Winnipeg) Mary Lou and Bruce Swarbrick, Shelagh and Peter (Calgary) Pat Murphy (Winnipeg) Susan Murphy and Bill Watt (Vancouver). She will also be remembered by her nephew, Rick Hinam and his family (Winnipeg), as well as numerous nieces and nephews in New Brunswick and Massachusetts. The youngest of ten children born to James and Annie Hogan, Norma grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick. She married her childhood sweetheart in 1948, settling in Winnipeg where they raised their family. Norma was a devoted wife and mother who willingly opened her home to all. She was a gifted storyteller and enjoyed a good time with her friends and family. She was blessed with a sense of humour, a quality she appreciated in others. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church (Stafford and Corydon) on Friday, March 2 at 9:30 a.m. Following a reception in the church hall, a private interment will take place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank her family physician, Dr. J. Khokhar, as well as the Palliative Care Team for their care and compassion. Thanks are also extended for the many expressions of concern from friends. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Endowment Fund, St. Boniface General Hospital, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6.
