MICHAEL J. OCHITWA Peacefully on February 23, 2001, Mike passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 75 years. Mike was born November 10, 1925 in Mikado, Sask., the second son of Joseph and Winnie (Wasyliw) Ochitwa. Mike attended the Mikado School for his Elementary and High School education. He joined the Navy and served in the Second World War. After his discharge from the Navy he was diagnosed with MS, however, while in remission he was able to work at various construction jobs including working with his father for several different companies, building roads and dams in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and B.C. In 1958 Mike settled in Winnipeg where he worked for Ross Equipment until his retirement in 1989. He married Patricia Burdey on October 6, 1973 in Winnipeg. Mike will forever be remembered by his brothers, Orest (Mary) Ochitwa, Henry Ochitwa; sister Gladys Lidgett; nephews, Bradley, Douglas and Gordon Lidgett. Mike was predeceased by his wife Patricia on June 7, 1976; by his father September 1971; his mother July, 2000 and niece Deanna Lidgett January, 2001. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. at The Chapel of the Good Shepherd, 2235 Silver Ave., off Whytewold Road. If friends wish they may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Private ash interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. At the familys request, flowers are kindly declined.
