MARIA IDALINA FONTES VIEIRA January 1, 1951 - February 27, 2001 Peacefully, with family by her side, Maria, beloved wife and mother, passed away at the Grace Hospital. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 27 years, Juvenal, two children, Richard, and Susan (Joshua) Zielinski, granddaughter Julianne Belle, her mother Merces Fontes, her brother Antonio (Laura) Fontes and sister Lourdes Fontes. She also leaves to mourn sisters-in-law Adriana and Elieta, brothers-in-law Fernando and Jose Antonio, nieces Sandy, Melissa, Nancy, Sonia, Nelcia and Goretta, nephews Terry, Victor, Marco and Tony as well as numerous other relatives, co-workers and friends. Mariazinha was predeceased by her father Virginio Fontes. She was born in Sao Roque, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1974 to begin life with her new husband, Juvenal. She was employed at Custom Pleating and Sewing Services for 18 years. She was a devoted mother and wife and worked tirelessly to support her family and to help put her son through university. Caring and generous to family and friends, Mariazinha was also dedicated to her work and a professional at her craft. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Grace Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, especially nurse Jo. Prayers will be held on Thursday, March 1 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fernando Costa, Jose Antonio Vieira, Joshua Zielinski, Victor Pimental, Terry Costa and Marco and Tony Fontes. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Marias memory to the charity of ones choice. Yea, I will comfort you, as one whom his own mother comforteth.
