ARTHUR MARCHANT Our beloved Dad, Arthur Marchant, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the age of 91 years. Art was predeceased by his wife Olga in 1996. He will be sadly missed by his devoted children, daughter Gail Schierle (Herb), sons, Nelson (Freda), Garry (Marnie) of Paris, France, Donnie (Debbie) as well as four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Art was born in Winnipegosis, MB on January 15, 1910. He served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War, and subsequently worked for the C.N.R. as a locomotive engineer for over 30 years. Dad was easy to like, undemanding of people, and viewed life in a practical and realistic manner. He was a well informed man who was keenly interested in politics, sports and history. He was a longtime resident of Lions Place. Our family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Arthur Blank for the excellent care, concern and respect which he gave Dad over the years, to the fourth floor staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and comfort during this difficult time, and to all the staff from Homecare, especially Howard who ensured that his daily needs were met. In accordance with Dads wishes, there will be a private family service and interment at the Holy Family Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined, however, should friends wish, a donation to their charity of choice in Arts memory would be appreciated.
