AGUST (GUS) ISFELD The Last of the Vikings 1911 - 2001 Surrounded by his family, Gus passed away February 23, 2001 at Gimli Betel Home at the age of 90. He lived his entire life on part of the original homestead "HOFI" in Husavik, entering Betel in 1999 due to poor health. Gus will be remembered with MUCH Love, Affection and Respect. He lived his life for his family: Wife Hazel (Bobbi) Children, Richard (Janet), Joan (Rick), Rodney (Pam), Judi (James), Brent (Shirley) 15 Grandchildren; nine Great-Grandchildren; Plus his Extended Family: Rick Pockett (Maureen), Jack Haldane (Ilean), and Ken Anderson (Dinah). Gus was predeceased by Daughter Joan (1999), both of his Parents, six Brothers and six Sisters. Dad will be missed by All who looked for him in his orchard, garden or sweeping his driveway of the "Dreaded" snow. Gus fished Lake Winnipeg for over 75 years. He lived a life he Loved...Fishing, Trapping and Hunting. Never asking or complaining for Himself. He was always thankful for the help he received from the many friends he and his family had through the years...many of the young Airmen and Cottage Kids who made "Hofi" a second home, Learning what HARD Work was all about. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Gilbarts Chapel in Gimli, 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 2. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Betel Home Gimli for their care and compassion given to Gus and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Gimli Betel Foundation. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
