THOMAS ROBINSON JAFFRAY It is with great sorrow that his family announces the passing of Thomas (Tom) Jaffray at the Seven Oaks General Hospital on Tuesday, February 27, 2001 following a massive heart attack. Tom will be sadly missed by Mary his wife of 33 years; daughters Elaine Spencer (Jim) and Marylyn Mohninger (Mel) son Clair McKerchar (Lynda) nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also a brother Ralph Jaffray (Emily). Other in-laws include John Gard (Mary) Vera Gard, Frank Gard (June also deceased February 28, 2001) Bob Gard (Myrle) Eileen Gard; Mike Gard (Lois). Tom was predeceased by parents William and Ada Jaffray; sister Winnifred and husband Eric Mulligan; brother Norman Jaffray; brother-in-law Jim Gard, and Toms beloved son Don McKerchar. Tom was born February 9, 1917 at the family farm near Kirkella, Manitoba. He received his education in Kirkella, Elkhorn, Brandon College and the Winnipeg Normal School. He later graduated with a B.A. and B. Ed. from the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. The majority of Toms teaching career was with the St. James School Division, until his retirement in 1978. Although he enjoyed his years of teaching and vacationing at the family farm, his greatest leisure interests were photography and cooking. A memorial service and tribute will be held at St. Saviors Anglican Church, S.E. Munroe Street at Grey, Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2. Viewing will be held 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the to Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg MB, R3B 2H8 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 2B7 would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Emergency and Geriatric Departments, Seven Oaks Hospital, for their kindness and care.
