JOHN (JERRY) DONALD SHAPKIN Jerry Shapkin passed away peacefully at Selkirk General Hospital on February 27, 2001, at the age of 59 years, beloved husband, father, son and friend. Jerry leaves to mourn his wife Janet, daughter Angie, husband Claude Gregoire, and his two sons Randy, wife Kimberly and Ken, partner Gerry Centanni, his mother Ann and his brother Harry, niece Loni. Jerry was predeceased by his father Alex and his sister Vivian Dunlap. Jerry was born in Arran, Saskatchewan. He worked as a computer programmer/systems analyst for 32 years. His first job was with the federal government in 1961.He then moved on to Burrows for 5 years before becoming the branch manager for Univac. He then installed a computer system for the Manitoba Rolling Mills. After MRM, Jerry started his own company with his good friend Ken Sellow, called Impro Computer Associates. He then moved on to manage Monroe Systems finally completing his programming career with Fox-Heyes Associates. Jerry retired in 1995. After enjoying 2 years of retirement, Jerry and Janet purchased a restaurant Jane & Paulas Dunnottar Inn, in Matlock, MB. Jerry enjoyed curling, golf and bowling in his spare time. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 2, at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. JERRY God saw you suffering and called you home. May you rest now in eternal peace.
