Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFATHER PATRICK MALONE SJ The Jesuits of Winnipeg are saddened to announce the death in the Lord of Father Pat Malone SJ. Fr. Malone was born in Belfast, Ireland, in 1918, to Hugh and Eliza Malone. He entered the Society of Jesus in Canada in 1936 and died in Pickering, ON on February 26, 2001. The funeral is to take place in Pickering on Thursday, March 1. As part of his long and active ministry Fr. Malone spent six years in Winnipeg. In 1991 he was assigned to be the superior of the community of Jesuits associated with St. Pauls College. Fr. Malone was instrumental in preparing the College Board for the future, and in restructuring the Jesuit communities in Winnipeg into one community, of which he was the first superior. Fr. Malone was very involved also in promoting the Spiritual Exercises in Winnipeg. Fr. Malone will be remembered by his brother Jesuits and by his many friends and colleagues for his strength, graciousness, and affection for the People of God. He was in his 83rd year and in the 66th year of his religious life. He is survived by his sister Mrs. Rita Gamsby of London, ON; his sister-in-law Mrs. C. Malone of Mississauga, ON; and nieces, Patricia Scott and Joan Gamble. May he rest in peace. a.m.d.g.
