WYLIE LORNE SIMMONDS September 21, 1942 - March 1, 2001 On March 1, 2001 Wylie Simmonds, teacher, philosopher, entertainer, friend, went to be with The Creator. Wylie loved deeply, laughted often and indelibly etched the lives of those he touched. He lived his beliefs and loved unconditionally. His life was a study in integrity. Those touched by his spirit knew that they were truly blessed. His last years were spent working with Winnipegs Contemporary Dancers in partners with his friend Jerry Sawanas in their company Culture Bridge. His years at Dancers were rich with relationships that continued to sustain him through his illness. He leaves to mourn, his mother Verna Simmonds; sons, Wylie Jr. (Shirley), Mike and Patrick. He is also remembered by Pam and Brad Peters, George and Linda Willatt; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Dr. Prye Simmonds; sister Gail; brother Bill, and granddaughter Erin. He will be especially missed by his beloved granddaughter Natasha Linn Peters; his companion Ruby Duxbury and her daughter Greer. He will be held always in the hearts of his dear friends, Jerry Sawanas, Dick Pope, Hifa Willatt, Antoine and Emma Sand, and "The Gang". Wylie would have been honoured to have donations made in his name to Winnipegs Contemporary Dancers. Flowers are gratefully declined. Wylie would have also wanted to acknowledge the excellent care he received from Dr. F. Crowe, Dr. Komosky, Dr. Cooke, and Dr. Hilderbrand, as well as Marie from V.O.N. and Lisa from home care, and all the compassionate staff from the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. A celebration of his life will be held at the Contemporary Dance Studio, 109 Pulford Ave., Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. To die is exhausting To end is perfection Tagore LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
