DENISE (JO JO) JUNE CAROLINE BURTON (Johnson/Hunter) September 10, 1947 February 27, 2001 It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend on Tuesday, February 27, 2001. Denise is predeceased by her daughter Dawn. Survived by her son Shawn; parents, Elizabeth and Willay Johnson; her brothers, Romeo, Jimmy, George and Willie and her sister Diane. She will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews and her dear friends, especially the Trueman family. Special thanks to Dr. Crow and the great staff from the 8th floor Palliative Care at the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and kindness, and her nurse and friend Louise. Denise took tremendous joy in the time she spent with her children and her close friends. Small and feisty she was a lady whose loyalty to those closest to her was unwavering. She enjoyed the race track and spending time in the company of children and animals. Denise never failed to put a smile on your face. God looked around his garden and found an empty space, He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face, He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful. He knew how you were suffering the road was getting rough, So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone, For part of us went with you the day God called you home. I love you Mom, Shawn. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Denises honour to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Viewing will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 also at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with a reception following in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
