ALAN ANGUS McISAAC Beloved husband of 55 years of Madeleine (Moffatt) died on Tuesday, February 27, 2001, at Chelsey Park Nursing Home, London, ON. Born in Halifax N.S. on April 29, 1916, Alan grew up in Montreal, Que. where he attended Loyala University. He was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret McIssac, brothers Colin and Kenneth, sisters Mary and Joan, infant daughters Coreen, Kathleen, and Mary Margaret and son John Alan. Alan joined Canada Railway News Company in Montreal in 1940. He was transferred to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1949 to head the Western Region Stores Division, a position he held for 20 years. In 1970 he moved to Cara Operations, Head Office, in Toronto as vice-president. He retired in 1977. After 23 years in Toronto, he moved to London, Ontario. Throughout his life Alan was a kind, generous person. In Winnipeg, he was a member of the school and church boards of Saint Ignatius Church where he was also an usher. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and honorary chair of the Rotary Club, where he was well known for his work on the Science Fair. He was also involved with many other charitable organizations. After his arrival in London, Ontario, he continued as a volunteer including The Saint Vincent de Paul Society. He held many positions with the Society, including Ontario Provincial Treasurer and Provincial Stores Division Chairman. Alan supported and worked for the Liberal Party all his life. After taking up residence on Lytton Blvd. Toronto, he became known as "the Grandfather of the block". His love of people was well known. He was a member of the Restaurant Foundation. In 1975, he gave the keynote address at the World Duty Free Symposium in Paris, France. He was always thoughtful and caring for the people with whom he worked. Alan had many friends in Canada and around the world and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. At Alans request there will be no funeral parlour visitation. Mass of the Resurrection will take place at St. Peters Basilica Our Lady Chapel (196 Dufferin Ave., London, ON) at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5. Private Crematorium and Interment at St. Peters Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, St. Peters Basilica London will be appreciated.
