EDNA HILDA MAY KEMBER (nee LESTER) December 5, 1919 - March 1, 2001 On Thursday, March 1, 2001, at age 81, Edna passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. After 54 years of marriage, Edna was predeceased by her husband Alfred (Fred) James Kember. She is survived by her sister Sylvia. Edna was born in London, England and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1950 with her husband and sister. She worked many years as a medical secretary and was a member of White Cross Guild of the Health Sciences Centre for over 25 years. She spent many hours knitting a multitude of articles for gifts and charities; was an avid reader and preferred mysteries the most. Edna loved ballroom dancing, was fond of music, and very fond of animals. She will be remembered for being a very compassionate person with a superb sense of humour. She will be lovingly remembered by many relatives and numerous friends worldwide. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, entrance on Aubrey Street. In lieu of flowers, Edna would have appreciated donations be made to Quagga (Stray Cat Rescue), Heart and Stroke Manitoba Fund, Salvation Army, or to the charity of your choice.
