Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERTA PENNER June 1, 1932 - March 2, 2001 Surrounded by her family, it is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Herta Penner, on Friday, March 2, 2001, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Herta was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by her four children, Ericka and Peter, Hilda and Rick, Willi and Shauna, Harry and Elaine and mother-in-law Berta Sara Penner; her brother Jake and Elizabeth Klassen; her sister-in-law Hedi and Peter Plett and their families, relatives and friends. Born in the Ukraine, Herta left her homeland with her Mother and Brother arriving in Paraguay South America in 1947. This is also where she met her husband Willi Penner whom she married in 1952 where they lived until 1958 when she and her husband and children immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. Here she devoted herself solely to her husband, children and family. She loved gardening, crocheting and cooking. She always looked forward to her many visits with her brother Jake, her children and grandchildren. Herta made her children her #1 concern and they were always the nearest to her heart. After the passing of her husband and our father, she showed great inner strength which we all learned from. A very sincere thanks to Uncle Jake and Aunt Elizabeth, Uncle Peter and Aunt Hedi for being with Mom everyday in her time of need and all her relatives and friends who came to sit and visit with her. She will be truly missed by all. Our sincere thanks to Pastor Edwin Epp for his caring and giving us the strength in our time of need. A special thank you to the great staff at the St. Boniface Hospital 8th Floor Palliative Care Unit. Funeral Services will be held at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield St., at Sargent Avenue on Tuesday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a lunch before proceeding to the graveside service at the Glen Eden Memorial Gardens at 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Herta Penner to the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Tache Ave., Wpg R2H 2Z9.
