Date of Passing: Mar 02, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTEENA CARON (nee BILAN) It is with great sorrow that we wish to announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our great mother, grandmother, and friend on Friday, March 2, 2001 at Holy Family Nursing Home. Teena was born March 11, 1919 in Stead, Man. She was the youngest of seven children, having four sisters and two brothers. On November 9, 1946 she married our Dad, Ernest who predeceased her in September 1998. They were married and devoted to each other for over 51 years. Her two sons, Jim and wife Catherine, as well as Robert and his wife Wendy, and their two children Jason and Kristen, who gave her much joy survive Teena. Her only living sister, Mary Larson of Portage la Prairie, Man., as well as many nieces and nephews also survive her. Teena spent much of her adult life working at Sterling Stall as a seamstress, retiring in 1982. Besides her talents as a seamstress, Mom crocheted and knitted endless afghans, slippers, sweaters, and items which we will all treasure. Moms greatest talent though was her cooking. Family, friends, relatives and even strangers were always welcome in Teenas kitchen. She had the ability to set out a buffet at a moments notice. She continually delighted us with her famous fried chicken, perogies and wonderful roast beef dinners. She thought you hadnt had enough to eat unless you left her doorstep at least ten pounds heavier. Always willing to share a story, a smile, and a good cup of coffee. These are some of the things we will miss the most. Cremation has taken place. At Teenas request there will be no service. Instead there will be a celebration of her life to be held Saturday, March 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at 103 Foxborough in Transcona. In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the wonderful staff on St. Marys wing at Holy Family Nursing Home, where for the last year you gave her the best of care, always showing her respect, care and concern. Go in peace Mom, we love and will miss you.
