JOHN CLIFFORD (TUPPY) BIRD With sadness, we announce the passing of John Clifford (Tuppy) Bird of Peguis First Nation, at the Percy E. Moore Hospital on Friday, March 2, 2001, at the age of 80 years. Clifford leaves to mourn his son Garnet (Rachel) Thickfoot; two granddaughters, Leigh and Garnelle; great-grandson Evan; brothers, Walter (Theresa) and Bill; sisters, Winnie Spence and Gladys Sinclair; sisters-in-law, Mary Bird, Illa Bird and Anne Bird. Clifford will also be remembered with love, affection and respect by his nieces and nephews, especially his great-nephew Christopher; niece Lianne and her family; nephew Archie and his family. Clifford was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Bella Bird and by his brothers, Stanley, William, Wilfred, Allan, Percy and Carl. Clifford loved the lake. He started fishing at an early age on Lake Winnipeg. In the 60s he moved to Hay River, N.W.T., and fished on the Great Slave Lake. In 1985, Clifford returned to Peguis where he resided until his passing. Clifford had a wonderful sense of humour and he was always teasing and telling stories. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Percy E. Moore Hospital, Peguis Chief and Council, also Rev. Barry Bear and Irvin and Dolly Wilson for their visits and comforting prayers. Wake services will be held on Saturday, March 3, Sunday, March 4, and Monday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m., with viewing from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. All services will be held at the Peguis Church, Peguis, Man., with Pastor Irvin Wilson and Jim Anderson officiating.
