Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELLEN BLUNDELL (nee INGHAM) Passed away on March 3, 2001 at the Vista Park Lodge at the age of 104. Mary was born in 1896 in Burnley Lancashire, England. She came to Canada with her family just a few days ahead of the Titanic in 1912. She has lived in Winnipeg since then, except for 12 years after her retirement, when she and her husband George wintered at their beloved cottage at Lac Lu Ontario. Mary was employed for many years at the Royal Alexandra Hotel in Winnipeg as a switchboard operator where she retired in 1952. In 1921 she married George Blundell, who predeceased her in 1990. Mary was a life member of the Canadian Legion #2 branch, the Eastern Star and the former Daughters of England. She worked tirelessly as a volunteer worker. She was a long-time resident of the Weston area and a member of St. Thomas Church. Mary and George enjoyed many summers at Lac Lu, Ontario, from 1926-1990. Besides George, Mary is also predeceased by an infant son Charles; a sister Lily Duxbury; a niece Gladys Blair; a nephew Elmer Duxbury and her son-in-law Lawrence Worobey. She is survived by a daughter Shirley Worobey; grandchildren, Valerie Jones (Lance) of Kelowna BC and Larry Worobey Jr. (Myrna) of Winnipeg and a niece Phyllis Smith of Winnipeg. There will be a funeral service on Friday, March 9 in Thomson Funeral Chapels at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. R. L. Webster officiating. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Vista Park Lodge for the many years of loving care given to Mary.
