ARCHIBALD BELL (ARCHIE) McINTYRE Peacefully in his sleep, after a lengthy illness, Archie McIntyre, beloved husband of Dorothy, passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg on March 2, 2001. Archie will be lovingly remembered by Dorothy, his wife of 50 years; son John and wife Joan and grandchildren, Jill (Craig) and Jason (Kathy) daughter Pat Morka and husband Allan and grandchildren, Chelsea and Adam; a favourite four-footed pal "Bozzley"; brother Bill (Betty) and sister Margaret Maeren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, friends and acquaintances. Archie was predeceased by his parents William and Margaret McIntyre, brother Ian and mother and father-in-law Peter and Mary Kandia. Archie started work at the age of 16 years as a train clerk with C.P. Rail. During the Second World War he served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army at the age of 16 years, having lied about his age, returning to work at C.P.R. in 1945. He later served with the Police Force in Winnipeg and Saskatoon. In 1957 he entered the car sales business and retired in 1982 after having spent the last 25 years with Eastern Sales. He was a member of the Tuscan Masonic Lodge and latterly Windsor Masonic Lodge. He joined the Khartum Shrine 101 Unit and later joined the Rough Riders Unit where he enjoyed participating in parades and riding his Big Red. On November 30, 2000 he received an Honourary Membership from the Rough Riders. He was a past president of both units. Archie was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Henderson Hwy. Branch No. 215. He was involved in charity work for children at Christmas when he played Santa Claus for many years. In his later years he acted as an adjudicator for Winnipeg Transit. He enjoyed travelling and camping with family and friends. Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 7 at the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway at Sherbrook Street, the Rev. Gordon Fulford officiating. Cremation has taken place. The service will terminate at the chapel. The family wishes to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for all the care and kindness shown to Archie. In lieu of flowers, donations in Archies memory may be made to the Shrine Transportation Fund for Children, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3P 1B9, or Deer Lodge Hospital, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3J 0L3, or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3B 2H8, or to a charity of choice.
