Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN (NORM) BEAVER Following a lengthy illness, Norm passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre on March 2, 2001. He was born on March 15, 1922 in McCord, Saskatchewan and moved to Petersfield, Manitoba with his parents, brother and three sisters in the 1930s. Following service in the Second World War he married Frances Carter on April 30, 1949, taking up residence in Winnipeg where he resided until his death. Norm worked for many years with the St. Vital School Board until early retirement in 1984. Retirement provided him the time to pursue his boundless passion for music. He played a number of musical instruments for his personal enjoyment as well as playing in a band, singing in the St. Marks and St. Vital Seniors choir and barbershop. He was an active and respected member of the community. Norm was predeceased by his wife Frances; his parents; and sisters, Barbara and Doreen. He is survived by his two sons, Wayne of Winnipeg; Allen of Whitehorse and daughter-in-law Nuala; brother Charles and sister-in-law Joan of Northampton, England; sister Mary (Dilly) and brother-in-law Freddy Setter of Selkirk; sister-in-law Nora Trippier of Selkirk; sister-in-law Bernice Wawryk of Vancouver; granddaughter Shea of Winnipeg and grandson Timothy of Whitehorse; plus many cousins, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at St. Marks Church, 19 St. Marks Place, in St. Vital, with Rev. Karen Binding officiating on Friday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at St. Georges Wakefield Church Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Riverview Health Centre for the care and support provided to Norm during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4, or charity of choice.
