ROG OJO. In 1901, John was born to his parents who had come to Pioneer in the Mariposa (soon to become Sperling) area, 2 years earlier. His childhood fascination with machinery kept him in demand for his mechanical skills through the end of the steam age, and beyond as motors evolved. He also worked on the family farm and eventually purchased the neighbouring Robert Gardiner homestead in the late 20s. He resided there until his retirement from farming in his mid 80s. John left his legacy in countless ways in his community and with his family through hard work and rugged determination. His inventive skills, no nonsense outlook combined with a good heart, historical anecdotes, and his mischievous smile will be sadly missed. Doyles Funeral Chapel of Carman in care of arrangements.
