Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE STEWART PATERSON CRICHTON It is with sadness that the family of Jessie Stewart Paterson Critchton announces her passing at Halifax Queen Elizabeth Infirmary on Monday, March 5, 2001. Her memory and her life continues through her family, John, Marsha, Jennifer, James and Laura Belford in Bramalea, Ont.; David, Julia, William, Scott and Donald Belford in Winnipeg; Carol, Terry, Raylene and Alec Paci in Winnipeg; Jim Belford, to whom she was formerly married; brother Bill Crichton in Scotland; cousin Stewart Paterson in Macreary, Man.; cousins, Doreen, Norman, Rosemary, David and Brian Crichton in Toronto. Jessie was predeceased by her parents, Mary and William Crichton in Scotland and her brother John Crichton of Toronto. Jessie was born on April 25, 1929. She immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1954 along with her husband Jim and two sons, John and David. The family lived in Mossbank, Sask., where daughter Carol was born. In 1963 Jessie and her family moved from Indian Head, Sask. to Winnipeg, Man. Jessies life was music. She held an L.R.A.M. from the London College of Music, the L.T.C.M. from the Toronto College of Music. Jessie was a fine organist and was choir director at Presbyterian churches here in Canada and in Scotland. She was formerly director of music at the United Church Summer Cap at Wabamasqua in Saskatchewan and taught piano and accordion privately. Jessie taught children with special needs for several years at Prince Charles School in Winnipeg. Her love of Scotland was reflected through her skill in playing Scottish country dance music. She was also a gifted accompanist. Because of her flair for reciting and interpreting the poems of Scotlands national bard, Robert Burns, Jessie was often invited to "Address the Haggis" at Burns Suppers. Her favourite son was "The Star o Rabbie Burns". Her favourite music was that of the Scottish Orpheus Choir conducted by Sir Hugh Roberton. Few could match her playing of a Scottish "Eightsome Reel" at dances and other social occasions. She caused voices to sing and feet to tap wherever she went. Jessie brought song and laughter to all who knew her. It was the fountain of her many friendships. She will be remembered particularly by Margaret and John Inglis of Mossbank, Sask. who were a great source of strength to her and her family particularly during those early years of becoming Canadians. But Lord, remember me an thine Wi mercies temporal and divine, That I for grace an gear may shine, Excelled by nane And a the glory shall be thine, Amen. Amen. Robert Burns "Holy Willies Prayer"

There is not a day that goes by when we do not think of you. We hear you in a song, see you in a picture and feel you through our children. Another Christmas is coming and we will hang your picture on the tree and play Christmas Carols on your piano. The shortbread will be baked but not like yours, just close enough to give us comfort. We miss you Mom. Love Always, John David and Carol. - Posted by: Carol Belford -Paci (Family) on: Dec 02, 2005
